The TV Show Fun

Anwita sat on the couch, her eyes glued to the television screen as she searched for the perfect show or cartoon to watch. Her mother often called her a “couch potato” because she spent so much time in front of the TV, but Anwita didn’t mind. All she wanted was some entertainment!

“Finally!” Anwita exclaimed as she found a cartoon she wanted to watch. “Now, I should go and get some chips,” she said to herself, reaching for the remote to press the pause button.

Or at least, she thought it was the pause button. In reality, she had pressed some random button.

The television switched to a show called A Sunny Day in Candyland. What Anwita failed to notice was a warning flashing at the very beginning of the broadcast:

DO NOT PRESS THE PAUSE BUTTON!

But in her hurry to grab some chips, Anwita pressed the pause button anyway.

Suddenly, a loud whooshing sound filled the room. For a few moments, everything went dark. When Anwita finally opened her eyes, she was astonished by what she saw. Lollipops grew where trees should have been, chocolates replaced bushes, and the pathway beneath her feet sparkled with bright, colourful patterns.

She looked around in amazement. Then, it struck her!

“Yippee!” she cheered. “I’m inside Candyland!”

Anwita was so caught up in the fun of exploring Candyland that she completely lost track of time. She wandered along the colourful paths, admiring the lollipop trees and chocolate bushes. But when she finally realized how much time had passed, her smile faded. She had no idea how to get back home!

“Oh dear! How am I going to get back?” she wondered, beginning to worry.

Suddenly, she remembered her grandmother’s wise words:

“If you ever find yourself trapped in a candyland, remember what I’m about to tell you. Find any bakery or shop whose name begins with the first letter of your name. Look underneath a table labelled ‘Table No. 8’, and you will find a green button and a red button. Press the green button to return home. But press the red button, and you will be trapped there forever!”

Anwita knew that following her grandmother’s advice was her only way out.

After a long and tiring search, she finally spotted a shop called The Koo Koo Bakery. For a brief moment, she considered walking past it, but she was too exhausted to search any longer.

She hurried inside the bakery and immediately spotted a table labelled Table No. 8. Bending down to look underneath it, she found two buttons—one green and one red—just as her grandmother had described.

Without wasting a second, Anwita pressed the green button.

WHOOSH!

In an instant, she was transported straight back home!

“Enough TV for now,” she thought, letting out a sigh of relief.

Later, she told her parents all about her wild adventure in Candyland. They listened to her story with wide eyes and then burst into hearty laughter.

Anwita smiled, but she made a mental note: Never press a mysterious button on the remote again!
